Oral health and dental care for children
Children’s dentistry focuses on the oral health and dental care of children from infancy through adolescence. We are trained to provide dental care for children in order to promote good oral hygiene habits and prevent dental problems such as cavities, gum disease, and other oral conditions.
Our dentists here at the Mellow Family Dental Care are knowledgeable about children’s unique dental needs, including the development of primary teeth, the growth of permanent teeth, and the prevention and treatment of dental problems specific to children.
We focus on creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for children, using techniques to help them feel calm and relaxed during their dental visits.
We also have a designated child space equipped with flat-screen tvs and plenty of child-friendly movies. Each of our treatment rooms is also equipped with a TV and Netflix so your child can watch their favourite movie or tv show to help them feel more comfortable during their treatment.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends that infants are seen by a dentist within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth, or by one year of age. We educate our young patients and their parents on the importance of regular checkups every six months and yearly x-rays which will help us catch minor problems early.
